ONLY use protected 3.7V lithium polymer batteries.

To use for full 3A output, you must use a minimum 3Ah battery.

DO NOT use unprotected, raw, multi-cell, mixed chemistry, or damaged batteries.

Controller has standard JST-PH 2.0 connector used by commonly available types.

More Info

The Wizard OTG comes pre-installed and pre-configured with WLED-MM-14.5 firmware.

To access settings and control your LEDs, connect via the web access portal or app.

To change LED type and length use the Led Preferences menu under Config.

Saved presets 1-4 are mapped to the flash, strobe, fade, and smooth buttons on the IR remote.

NO. The Wizard OTG is designed for 5V input and output only.

Yes! When LEDs are powered via USB-C with a battery attached, the battery will charge with whatever current is left from the LED load, up to the set charge current (default 1A). The controller intelligently manages power distribution.

If LED power consumption is near or at the total available power, ie RGB max brightness white, the battery may charge slowly or not at all.

Compatible LEDs include most 5V addressable RGB and RGBW IC strips, panels, rings, etc

WS2812B, WS2811, SK6812, SK9822, APA102, many brand names

BATTERY POWER

The Wizard OTG is compatible with protected 3.7v lithium polymer batteries ONLY, these are readily available from major retailers like amazon and are standard in millions of consumer products. Many of these batteries come with the JST-PH 2.0 connector, which is compatible with the Wizard OTG.

Please choose a battery between 1500mAh and 10000mAh and follow the safety guidelines provided by the manufacturer of your selected battery.

For 3A output use minimum 3000mAh cell, the output can be increased in Led Preferences

Discharge current limit is equivalent to the battery's C-rating multiplied by its capacity (in Ah).

Safety guidelines generally include but are not limited to:

  • DO NOT use battery if swollen, punctured, or damaged in any other way
  • DO NOT store in direct sunlight
  • DO NOT expose to water
  • DO NOT charge batteries at temperatures outside of 0°C to 45°C (32°F to 113°F)

DO NOT USE WITH UNPROTECTED/ RAW, MULTI-CELL, MIXED CHEMISTRY, OR DAMAGED BATTERIES.

BATTERY CHARGING

TI BQ25895 Switch-Mode IC w/ Coilcraft Inductor

Input Limit: 3A

Boost max output: 5V 3A

Max charge voltage: 4.2V

Default charge current: 1A

  • This value can be configured in the "BQ25895" usermod
  • Follow the manufacturer guidelines for specific batteries.
  • When LEDs are on USB-C power with a battery attached, the battery will charge with whatever current is left from the LED load up to the set charge current.
  • 1A is generally suitable for lipo batteries with a capacity of 1000mAh and greater
  • For larger cells the rate can be increased per manufacturer guidelines.
  • DO NOT use batteries with a capacity below 1000mAh

When LEDs are on USB-C power with a battery attached, the battery will charge with the current difference from the supplied power and LED load up the set charge current

Battery voltage/ status reading may vary under load, temp, etc

DO NOT charge the battery at temperatures outside of 0°C to 45°C (32°F to 113°F)

Please ensure polarity is correct before connecting the battery.
